From Scepticism to Advocacy

My journey into the world of Bitcoin began unexpectedly and with a fair share of scepticism. In 2018, during a bull market frenzy, a friend introduced me to this novel concept. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, with their digital and somewhat enigmatic nature, seemed dodgy and scammy to me at first.

The platforms, like Binance where I hesitantly signed up, didn't do much to alleviate my doubts. Looking back at a photo of me during that time, my hesitance is evident (see below). Despite my curiosity, sparked mainly by the allure of quick riches, I refrained from investing, a decision that, in hindsight, I consider both fortunate and unfortunate.

Fast forward to 2020, my interest in business and finance, nurtured through my studies, led me back to Bitcoin. This time, a video by Andrei Jikh demystified Bitcoin and Ethereum for me, presenting them in an accessible, bullish light.

With savings at hand, I cautiously invested a small amount, adhering to the golden rule of investing only what I could afford to lose. The ensuing bull market was an eye-opener. My portfolio ballooned, sparking a deeper curiosity about the mechanics of this digital asset. Unlike many, my desire to understand Bitcoin grew stronger as the market cooled down, signalling the start of a more profound exploration.

Deep Dive into Bitcoin's Fundamentals

My learning journey took a significant turn with the "Bitcoin Standard," often hailed as the Bitcoin bible. Prior to this, my knowledge about Bitcoin was superficial, limited to its fixed supply and pseudonymous creator.

However, delving into concepts like cryptography and decentralisation transformed my perspective. Understanding the immutability of Bitcoin's supply and the principles of consensus opened my eyes to its legitimacy and potential as more than just another digital currency. This distinction from the broader crypto market was crucial in cementing my belief in Bitcoin's unique value proposition.

Becoming a Bitcoin Advocate

The more I learned about Bitcoin, the more I found it aligning with my core belief in freedom and autonomy, encapsulated in my mantra "Rules No Rulers." The concept of a peer-to-peer currency, free from intermediaries, resonated deeply with me.

Engaging with the Bitcoin community on Twitter further enriched my understanding, exposing me to new ways of thinking about finance, economics, and the flaws of traditional financial systems.

Bitcoin, to me, represented sound money, a stark contrast to the fiat systems and their inherent issues like inflation and debt. My advocacy for Bitcoin grew from these realisations, fuelled by thousands of hours of reading and research.

Educational Mission

With 123Cryptos, my co-founded site, we've successfully created beginner-friendly courses to demystify Bitcoin and crypto. This experience taught me the importance of accessible education in this field.

I aim to extend this approach to my site, breaking down complex Bitcoin concepts into simple, understandable language. My goal is to provide a resource for friends, family, and anyone curious about Bitcoin, explaining it in a way that relates to everyday experiences and interests.

This site is not just about Bitcoin; it's about exploring its intersection with my passions for sports and travel, and how these realms connect in the spirit of freedom and autonomy.

Bitcoin and Its Connection with My Passions

As mentioned earlier, Bitcoin's ethos of self-sovereignty perfectly aligns with my other passions. The freedom to travel the world, to engage in any sport, mirrors the liberty Bitcoin provides in the financial realm.

Just as one can traverse borders or play a sport of their choice, Bitcoin offers the ability to own, save, and spend money without needing anyone's permission. This interconnectedness of freedom across different facets of life is what I aim to explore and share through my journey and this site.
